Gartner Digital Markets
Conversion-optimization landing pages for B2B software clients
Overview
As a Conversion Rate Optimization Designer at Gartner, I created over 35 conversion-optimized landing pages providing an overview of the solutions offered by B2B software companies. The main purpose of these landing pages was to capture user information to connect them with the client’s sales teams for a free demo or trial of the software. I designed landing pages for specialized companies ranging from Tax Management to Human Resources Management using the client’s brand guide and industry-standard copy to generate relevant and qualified leads.

Role Background
Our team acted as an in-house design agency for clients enrolled in Gartner’s PPC program and displayed their products on Capterra. Capterra, one of Gartner Digital Markets’ products, is a marketplace for software buyers to review and purchase various software products. Capterra provides a one-stop shop for buyers to view and opt-in to free trials or demos of software products they are interested in. As a CRO Designer, I created landing pages for companies whose products were displayed on Capterra’s marketplace and to increase sign-up rates of new customers.
Key takeaways from my role as a CRO Designer
Ability to synthesize technical language
Working with a wide range of software products and designing for users at different technical levels, I learned to analyze and consolidate technical language concisely. The landing pages provide an overview of the product’s offerings and therefore need to convey the most important information without overwhelming the user. I learned to balance integrating technical jargon with emphasizing how the product solves the user’s business problems.
Collaboration and iteration
Creating a landing page for a client’s campaign was a collaborative and iterative process. As a designer, I worked with product managers to QA requests, with other designers to review design and copy choices, and with the client to make final changes before publishing the approved version. For certain projects, I would also work with our translation agency to produce landing pages in other languages or with Account Managers to help in launching campaigns for new clients. Working with these different teams taught me to communicate and advocate for my designs effectively while maintaining and meeting stakeholder expectations.
UX Writing
The copy for the landing pages was largely provided by the clients and submitted to our team as an intake form containing a list of their main software features and product offerings. For each project, I used this information in addition to other content design strategies to provide an enjoyable user experience for software buyers. By utilizing attention-grabbing headlines, user-friendly copy, and compelling CTAs, I was able to connect with our target users and drive engagement.
